On January 29, 2025, Jonathan’s career was cut short in a tragic event. He was the Captain of American Airlines Flight 5342, a flight traveling from Wichita, Kansas to Washington, D.C. During the final approach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the aircraft collided mid-air with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near the Potomac River. The crash resulted in the loss of more than 60 lives, including all on board Flight 5342 and the Black Hawk helicopter.
