Losing is very easy, for winning, the comparison is difficult but when in court I have to give
all I have and same goes with life.- Himani Mor, APOGEE e-magazine interview
A girl from a small Haryana village dreamed young of playing tennis for her country. With her drive and hard work, she not only made it happen but also found a life partner with an equal spark. This article explores Himani Mor’s life, an Indian tennis player and Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra’s wife.
Her family is full of Athletes
Born on June 26, 1999, Himani hails from Larsauli village in Sonipat, Haryana. Her father, Chand Ram, a former Kabaddi player, and her wrestler uncles sparked her passion for Tennis. Her brother, Himanshu Mor, took up tennis too.
In an interview, she shared that as there was no tennis court in her village, her father built one for her training.1 She highlighted the role her mother, Meena, plays in her life-
“Personally, my mother has been my role model. She has been with me ever since I started
playing and she inspires me in so many ways that I can’t even explain.
She represented India at International level

Since she was a teen, Himani Mor played Tennis for India. She first won a Gold medal at the 2016 World Junior Tennis Championship in Malaysia. At her peak, she ranked 42nd in singles and 27th in doubles.2
While she completed her Bachelor’s at Miranda House, Delhi University, she played at the World University Games held in Chinese Taipei in 2017 and the ITF-15k held in Sri Lanka.
After finishing her bachelor’s, Himani moved to the US and earned an MBA in sports, fitness, and human resources from Franklin Pierce University. Leaving behind own parents and friends, and then adapting to a new country’s ways isn’t easy- but as they say, dreams demand sacrifices.
Currently, she is chasing a Masters in Sports Management and Administration at the McCormack Isenberg School of Management and also helps train and manage the women’s tennis team at Amherst College as a graduate assistant.3
Her husband is a two-time Olympic Medalist

On January 16, 2025, Himani married Neeraj Chopra, India’s famed javelin thrower and double Olympic medalist.4 Their marriage sparked lots of discussion among the general public as it was a small, private ceremony instead of the big, lavish wedding that is a trademark of an Indian wedding. Only the parents and close friends of the couple were invited.
The marriage also got widely discussed as people were curious whether it was arranged or based on a love relationship. The parents of the couple, however, revealed that the families knew each other and believed both were well-suited for each other, hence they arranged the marriage
Note- Her biography will be updated here as new details emerge.
